Wanting To Go Out

Lyca brushes her hair.  It is that time of the year when the world is running for Christmas presents and here she is brushing her hair alone. Lyca wishes that she could have more excitement in her life, however the last time she did that she got drunk and was almost run over.  Lyca drags out a grey hair and she throws it away.

"Great now I am aging!" she gasps.

Lyca moves to the phone and calls Anne.

"Hello;" sings Anne.

"Hi;" says Lyca.

Lyca wishes she knew what to say other then what kind of day it is, however as the talk starts with comments about the sun Lyca finds herself trapped between what she wants to say and what she is saying.  It is when they are talking about ice cream flavors that Lyca interrupts.

"Look, I want us to go out and have fun;" she says.

Anne laughs.

"Sure there is a café hub in the area;" she mutters.

"No, I mean fun - like a date;" tells Lyca.

Anne laughs.

"Not for me;" she tells.  "After you have kids it is really the end of the line;" she tells.

Lyca sighs.

"That's fine;" she mutters.

"If you find anyone tell me;" tells Anne.  "But for now I have to get back to the housework;"

Lyca nods.

"See you;" she mutters before she hangs up the phone.

Now her morning has been made more miserable, and so Lyca turns back to the mirror and continues ot brush her hair.

Health Scare

Lyca puts on make-up.  She need to go out and she has to hurry - she has a date with a doctor and it is going to be intense.  Lyca narrows her eyes as the words cancer surf over her mind - she hopes she does not have cancer, if she did she would feel bad.

Lyca throws the lipstick into her back and then she leaves.  She has to hurry or she will be late.

Lyca veers through traffic and arrives at the doctor on time. There is an hour wait and she sits there chewing on her nails to pass the time.  When the doctor calls her she feels so much relief that she sees stars, and she fast picks up her purse and follows the doctor into their room.

"So is it cancer?" asks Lyca right away.

"No;" tells the doctor.  "Just built up bacteria for which you need some medication;"

Lyca smiles - she is so happy she almost faints.

Lyca leaves the doctor and goes to the store to buy her medication.  At the store she sees Anne who is shopping.

"I don't have cancer!" tells Lyca.

Anne smiles.

"Great!" she cheers.

"Want to visit my place to party?" she Lyca.  "Drinks and snacks;"

"Sure!" tells Anne as she rummages through her purse.  "I'll buy a cake and follow your car!"

At Lyca's house the kids run around while Anne and Lyca chat and drink.  They talk about their yesterdays, and their fears, and their hopes.  It is like normal - they are busy doing nothing but living life over what they had yesterday when they were living at home.

"It's so great that we are able to celebrate;" tells Anne.  "After my job failed I wasn't sure what I needed to pick me up;"

"I wasn't sure too;" tells Lyca as she raises her brows.  "But I am glad you came over, I really enjoy seeing you; being able to talk to someone is great!" she tells.  "I makes me feel so much better;" she adds.

"Me too;" agrees Anne.  "Well here's to a happy celebration;" she mutters as she raises her glass.

"And to luck;" tells Lyca.  "I feel I have been giving the whole rainbow;" she laughs.

"Me too;" tells Anne.  "In the form of a good friend;"

"Thanks;" smiles Lyca.   "Now lets eat this cake!"

Smelly Garlic

Anne washes the dishes.  She can't get the scent of garlic off her fingers - even through the water she can smell it.  The garlic scent crawls up her nostrils and she almost reels - it has a sticky, sweet, scent, that seems hot and smelly.  Anne can't take it any more, she puts the last dish on the rack and she moves to have a shower.

Anne washes herself until she is clean, only then can she breathe a deep sigh.  She loves the smell of fresh clean floral scent.  She grows a smile as she wraps a towel around her and with a dance in her step she walks out of the shower.

Lyca catches Anne in the hallway.

"hey, when you're dressed can you make me garlic bread?"  she asks.

Anne wrinkles her nose,  and she shivers.

"Sure;"  she reluctantly mutters with a sigh.

In the kitchen Anne makes garlic bread, and the reeking smell of garlic wafts through her nostrils until she wants to scream that she hates garlic.

Lyca Is Ignored

Lyca visits a store and sees Adam - a man lost from her past.  He had gone on vacation and disappeared and had not called her any more.  Lyca bites on her nail as she eyes him - he seems to be alone and so she wanders over and taps his shoulder.

"Hi!" cheers Lyca.

"Hi;" tells Adam with a smile no matter how crisp his words.

"How are you?" asks Lyca.

"Fine;" tells Adam with grim face.  "Leave me alone please;" he adds before he stiffly walks away.

Lyca is confused and walks from the store confused.  She makes it to her car but then she sighs.  She has no idea why Adam does not like her and so she phones Anne.

"Anna I met Adam today and he does not like me;"  she says.  "I have no idea why;"

"If he hasn't contacted you in years then maybe he just doesn't want to know you;" tells Anne with a smile.

"But why?"  asks Lycas as she feels a pinch inside of her head.  "What have I done?"  she asks.

"He wants to move on;" tells Anne.

"Well he could talk to me about it;" tells Lyca with a sigh.  "I mean, why not?"  she asks.

"He doesn't want to know you;"  says Anne. "Leave him alone;"

Lyca hangs up the phone and sighs.  She wants to steam and she wants to cry.  However she keeps her thoughts together as she dreams about taking a walk to find Adam.  However her conscience kicks her in the gut and Lyca resigns herself to a sigh.

"I suppose I will never figure the world out;" she mutters before she starts the car and leaves.

Lyca Loses Her Job

Lyca bites on her nails -  she has lost her job and so she frets.  She wants to move, but she wants to scream, and so she stands still.

"Why has the world stabbed me in the back?"  she mutters.

With a resigned sigh Lyca picks up the telephone and dials her sistrs number.

"Hey there Anne;"  mutters Lyca with a shrug.

"Hey there!"  cheers Anne as she smiles.  "What has brought you to my phone number today?"  she asks.

"I lost my job;"  tells Lyca as she shrugs;  "Can I board with you?"

"Sure!"  cheers Anne as she smiles.

Lyca stops outside of her sisters house and she signs.  She wishes she were not desperate enough to ask for a hand-out  but she is!  Lyca picks up her bag and walks to the front door, she knocks, Anne opens the door.

"Here there!"  cheers Lyca.

"Come in!"  cheers Anne;

The house is cool and Lyca cheers up immediately.

"Your house has always been so nice!"  she exclaims.

"Oh yes;"  tells Anne before she ushers her sister to the bedroom.

Lyca places her belongings into the bedroom and then exits to move to the kitchen.  Together her and Anne share a cup of tea.

"It is so strange you not having a job;"  tells Anne with a smile.  "What happened?"

"My performance was too low;"  tells Lyca as she shrugs; "I thought I was doing well, but obviously not!"  she exclaims.

"Obviously!"  cheers Anne with a smile.  "It is a drag when things don't work out;"  she adds.  "But I am here;"

"Thankyou;"  tells Lyca as she grins.  "I am glad you are my sister;"  she adds before she relaxes with her cup of tea;

Hot Day

Lyca hangs her washing on the line as she sweats in the summer sun.  It is very hot and she decides it be best to go inside so that she won't get burnt!

Lyca heads inside of the house and cools herself with some lemonade.  The drink is very refreshing and she relishes tasting the cool sweet brew -  however a knock on the door breaks Lyca's attention and she moves off the couch to answer it.

"He Anne!"  cheers Lyca at the door.  "What are you doing here?"

"It's too hot to drive back home so I am stopping by;"  tells Anne as sweat streams down her face.

"Let's cool off with some lemonade!"  cheers Lyca as she smiles at Anne.

Inside of the house the two sisters share a drink of lemonade as they chat.

"So what have you been doing today Anne?"  asks Lyca.

"Shopping;"  tells Anne as she shrugs.  "All my groceries are sizzling in the car.

"Are they perishable?"  asks Lyca as she listens.

"No, they should be fine;"  tells Anne as she smiles.  "Thankyou for the lemonade;"  she adds.

"That is fine -  don't you know I keep it on hand for days like these!"  tells Lyca as she smiles.

"I am happy for that!"  cheers Anne as she grins.  "What did you do today?"  she asks.

"Clothes washing;"  tells Lyca as she smiles.  "I was sweating on the clothes as I put them on the line;"

"That is no good!"  tells Anne as she laughs.  "If you have sweat-marks before you wear them you'll know why!"

"I wasn't sweating that bad!"  gasps Lyca as she giggles.  "Just enough to make them a little dirty;"

"Oh well you'll get to wash them again by tomorrow!"  tells Anne.

Lyca giggles.

"It is probably going to be this hot for a week;"  adds Anne.

"Oh no!"  gasps Lyca.  "I thought I storm might get int he way;"

"Not likely!"  snorts Anne before a yawn makes her stop speaking.  "I am tired;"  she says.

"Would you like to lay down?"  asks Lyca as she grows alarmed.

"No, I best be going home;"  tells Anne as she wipes her brow.  "Thanks for cooling me down but I best drive home before I fall asleep;"

"Okay!"  cheers Lyca as she pushes the glasses away.  "Just you drive safe!"

"I'll be fine!"  tells Anne as she hugs her sister goodbye.  "I'm filled with lemonade and still feeling the bubbles!"  she cheers before she departs.

Fish In The Water

Anne walks to the park and stares at the water -  it's soft tide captures her attention and she peers close.  Bubbles rise, then foam rises, and then a fish pops its head out of the water!  Anne smiles.

"Is that my prince charming?"  she asks.

The fish swims back under the water.

"What are you staring at Anne?"  asks Lyca as she approaches with ice-cream.

"A fish!"  tells Anne.  "It poked its head out from under the water!"

"I see no fish!"  tells Lyca as she peers at the water and sees calm.

"It was there!"  tells Anne.  "Give me an ice cream, I will show you!"

Lyca shrugs and hands Anne one ice cream.  Anne picks off some wafer and throws it into the water -  the wafer bobs on top of the water calmly and grows larger as the water expands its wafer cone shell.

"There's nothing there;"  tells Lyca as she shrugs.

"It is there!"  gasps Anne.  "Wait!"

The two sisters glare at the wafer and wait for the fish to show -  it does not come out of the water and Lyca snorts.

"Oh well... who cares?  Let's go and sit somewhere!"  she invites.

"How about we sit here?"  tells Anne.  "The fish will show!"

Lyca rolls her eyes off a patch of sunlight that covers a small hill crested by a tree and she looks at the damp grass under her feet.  Slowly she sits, wishing she had brought a picnic mat to sit on as the dew on the grass seeps into her clothes.

"I can't believe you want to sit here!"  tells Lyca as she rolls her eyes.

Anne glares at the water disinterested, and at times she throws more cone to invite the fish out of the water!  Birds approach to eat the cone portions, but fly away when Anne throws the blob of ice-cream into the water.  Lyca laughs.

"What a waste of ice-cream Anne!"  she tells as she glares at her sister.  "It's just a fish!  I'm sure it's gone to the bottom of the pond!"  she adds before she licks her own ice-cream.

"I'm sorry!"  tells Anne as she sulks.  "I wanted to show you there was a fish there!"

"That's okay;"  mutters Anne as she glares at the blob of ice-cream melting into the water.  "I am sure it was a nice fish!"  she mutters.

Anne smiles.

"I was;"  she adds as she leans back.  "It was;"  she repeats as she watches the ice-cream sink deeper into the water until it is gone.
